Wheels: Service Precautions
Towing, Changing Wheels And Rolling Road/wheel Spinner Test
Towing
CAUTION: All-wheel drive cars must not be towed with only one pair of wheels off the ground. If the car is towed in the wrong way the viscous
coupling (which distributes power between the front and rear drive wheels) will be immediately and irreparably damaged. If the car must be moved
with the rear or front wheels off the ground the propeller shaft must be disconnected.
Changing Wheels
All wheel drive cars have an extra jacking point. This is located just in front of the rear axle, see illustration. The jacking point has a mounting for
the car's jack and a plate for a garage jack or pillar lift. Use the correct jacking points and ensure that rifling equipment does not damage the fuel
tank.
WARNING: All-wheel drive cars must have the same size of wheel all round. A spare wheel of the "Temporary spare" type must only be
used with T125/90 R15 size wheels. Using incorrectly sized wheels can seriously damage the transmission.
Rolling Road Test
When testing brakes or on a rolling road or wheel spinner or balancing wheels the other wheels must rotate freely, see illustration. Driving power
is transferred automatically to the car's other driving wheels by the TRACS system and the viscous coupling.
