Removal

Special Tools

-

Counterhold tool No. 999 5461, or equivalent

-

Prying tool No. 999 5462, or equivalent

-

Counterhold tool No. 99 5540, or equivalent

-

NOTE:

-

This section on driveshafts includes cars with both manual and automatic transmission.

Unless stated otherwise in the text or illustrations, the Procedures are the same for both manual and automatic models.

-

The illustrations normally show driveshafts for manual models.

-

The Procedure is the same for both LH and RH driveshafts unless stated otherwise.

Procedure

1. Remove:

-

Front wheel.

-

ABS sensor from steering swivel member.

NOTE:  Do not undo connector.

2. Undo brake pipe bracket and ABS lead. 

-

Unhook bracket and let it hang free.

Remove driveshaft center nut. 

-

Remove the split pin from the hub center nut. 

-

Use counterhold tool No. 999 5461 (4 wheel bolts) or tool No. 999 5540 (5 wheel bolts), or equivalent, and remove nuts.

Disconnect driveshaft end from hub

 Tap shaft end in approx. 10-15 mm, using a plastic or copper mallet.
