Shift Indicator: Service and Repair
Replacement of Complete Unit

1. Removal

-

Remove:
-

Negative battery lead.

-

Center console as per steps 3 and 4 of Shift Cable, A/T replacement, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.

-

Gear shift knob as per steps 1 and 2 of Replacement, refer to Shift Lever, A/T.

-

Panel and shutter.

Depress catches at front edge of panel and lift slightly. 
Pry side catches outward, and remove panel and shutter.

2. Installation

-

Transfer or install new boot (gaiter) to shutter

-

Install:
-

The shutter.

Check that the indicator is on correct side of lever.

-

The panel.

Start at rear edge and then press into position in middle. 
Press home catches at front edge.

Center console as per step 6 of Shift Cable, A/T replacement, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.

Gear shift lever knob as per step 3 of Replacement, refer to Shift Lever, A/T.

-

Battery negative lead.
