4. Install new seal

Use drift tool No. 999 5449, or equivalent.

-

Grease seal.

-

Press in seal.

5. Remove rear seal

-

Remove camshaft position sensor and shutter.

-

Carefully pry out seal with screwdriver.

Clean seal seat and check shaft end for signs of wear.

6. Install new seal

-

Use drift tool No. 999 5450, or equivalent.

-

Grease seal. 

-

Press in seal.

Seal is normally located in same plane as edge of inside shoulder. If shaft end is worn seal may be located a further 2 mm.

NOTE:  Procedure steps 7-13 are omitted if replacing camshaft rear seals only.

7. Lock crankshaft
