12. Remove crankshaft seal

Pry out seal carefully using screwdriver, taking care to avoid damaging sealing faces on shaft and in seat.

Clean seat and inspect shaft for signs of wear.

13. Press seal into seat

-

Use handle tool No. 999 1801 and assembly tool No. 999 5430, or equivalents.

-

Oil mating surface between seat and seal. Oil lips of seal.

-

Place seal on tool.

-

Tap in seal until drift bottoms against crankshaft.

14. Install carrier plate 

-

Use gear sector tool No. 999 5112, or equivalent.

-

Use new bolts and thread locking compound. 

-

Tighten to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).  

-

Tighten through further 50 degrees. 

15. Install transmission 

-

Use fixture tool No. 9999 5972, or equivalent. 

-

Tilt transmission slightly backwards while lifting. 

-

Align torque converter with carrier plate.
