Drive Belt: Description and Operation
The auxiliaries (alternator. servo pump and AC compressor) are driven by a multiple V belt which is tensioned by a mechanical tensioner All of the
auxiliaries are mounted on a bracket on the left-hand side of the cylinder block
The mechanical tensioner consists of a spring and friction element. The element provides the inertia necessary to accommodate the minor oscillations
and variations in speed which occur during normal running, while the spring maintains the correct tension regardless of wear or temperature.
