Shift Solenoid: Service and Repair
Solenoids, Checking/Replacement
Special tool: 9995477
NOTE: Cleanliness is extremely important when working on automatic transmissions. Clean around the filler tube and drain plug. Always use
clean containers and ensure that the workplace is free of dust and dirt.
Resistance Measurement

Disconnect battery ground lead.

Remove plug and drain fluid from pan.
Caution: Fluid may be extremely hot if car has recently been driven.

Disconnect HO2S lead clips from pan.

Remove pan.
-
Remove fluid dipstick screws.

Remove pan mounting bolts.
-
Tap in blade of joint wedge 999 5477 all around joint between transmission housing and pan.
NOTE: Take care to avoid damage to pan flange.
CAUTION: Risk of fluid spillage, pan may contain residual fluid.

Detach cable bracket from control system, and solenoid connectors from solenoids.

Remove screws (two) and bracket.

Detach connectors from solenoids.
-
Open solenoid connectors on transmission.
