Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation
The throttle position (TP) sensor supplies the engine control module (ECM) with a signal describing the angle of the throttle opening. The engine
control module uses this information in its computations when the engine is loaded, for example during acceleration, and at idling.
The throttle position sensor consists of the following components:

hub and wiper contacts (1)

contact track (2)
^
rheostat (3).
The throttle spindle turns the hub and wiper contacts. This changes the sensor output signal. The engine control module delivers a 5 Volt supply to the
contact track. The output signal varies between 0.5 Volts at the closed-throttle position (CTP) and 4.5 Volts at wide-open throttle (WOT).
The engine control module adopts substitute values if the signal is from the throttle position sensor is missing or faulty.
The throttle position sensor is mounted on the throttle body (TB).
