5. Clean and inspect pistons, check valve and all springs
Replace worn or sticking pistons.
6. Install new O-rings
Remove old O-rings. Lubricate new O-rings with ATF oil and install on pistons.
7. Install accumulator pistons, check valve and springs
Install springs (six) and pistons (four) in cylinder bores as illustrated. Install check valve and spring.
Install retainer with Special Tools 999 5493,999 5495 and 999 5494, to hold the pistons and check valve in place.
8. Reinstall control system. Reinstall control system

Reinstall control system, leaving screws loose.

Remove piston and check valve retainers.

Reconnect solenoid cables.

Install oil strainer.

Install oil pan.
-
Install Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) cable.

Install pan drain plug and fill system with fresh oil.

Reconnect battery negative lead.

Erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
