AFFECTED VEHICLES:
DESCRIPTION:
On vehicles equipped with the factory integrated Bluetooth hands free telephone system and the original microphone location at the overhead console,
the sound quality at "land-side" may be experienced as poor, especially when calling to a "land-side" GSM (Global system for mobile communication)
phone or "vehicle to vehicle"
PRODUCT MODIFICATION:
An improved microphone and new microphone location was introduced starting MY 2010 on all P1 and P3 vehicles with the exception of C70. C70s
will retain the original microphone location due to the retractable hard top.
The new microphone can also be used as a service solution for vehicles that still have poor sound quality at land-side even after a BPM upgrade SW
(software) referenced in RTJ 20621 has been downloaded. This new integrated microphone solution is valid only for vehicles with BPM (Bluetooth
phone module) installations.
NOTE:
The old microphone located in the overhead console has been superseded and is no longer available from parts. If replacement is necessary for
reasons other than a "land side" sound quality problem, it must be retrofitted with the relocated version.
SERVICE:
If addressing a "land side" sound quality issue, first download a BPM upgrade and check if the land side sound quality is acceptable. If not, install the
relocated microphone as per the following installation instruction.

There are two separate installation instructions in this document. Please follow the appropriate method for the vehicle you are adding the relocated
microphone to.
