KIR keys can be found with the D-ring missing (see picture). The D-ring can come loose when too much force is applied on the ring/KIR housing.
This TNN describes how to install a new D-ring and a swivel for attaching keys.
SERVICE METHOD:
Installing D-ring and swivel on KIR
1)
KIR with key in open position.
2)
Open the battery cover with a small screw driver.
3)
Unscrew the screw - Torx 8.
