VVT unit intake camshaft, replacing

Special tools:

999 7229 Counterhold See: Tools and Equipment/999 7229 Counterhold 
999 7232 Key See: Tools and Equipment/999 7232 Key 
999 7236 Position setter See: Tools and Equipment/999 7236 Position Setter

Preparatory work

Remove the negative battery cable. First read: Battery, disconnecting See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Procedures/Battery,
Disconnecting.
Remove the camshaft chain. See Camshaft chain, replacing, B8444S See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement.

Turn the crankshaft back approximately 45°, so that the position setting tool is straight up. The camshafts should rotate freely.

Removing load from the camshaft/valve lifters 

Turn the camshafts for cylinder head, 1-3-5-7, Bank 1, approximately 45° (clockwise).
