Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

Disconnect primary leads from coil, then connect a suitable ohmmeter onto coil, Fig. 3.

Ohmmeter should indicate 1.1-1.7 ohms.

Reconnect one ohmmeter lead to the high voltage terminal on coil. Ohmmeter should indicate 6-10 kilo ohms. If ohmmeter reading obtained is not
as specified, replace coil assembly.

4.

Disconnect one end of resistor, then connect ohmmeter across resistor. Ohmmeter should indicate .85-.95 ohms. Replace resistor if not within
specifications.
