SYMPTOM
A grinding noise is heard intermittently while starting the engine.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The drive plate gear teeth are mis-manufactured.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the drive plate.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the transmission. Refer to page 14-116 of the 1996-02 3.5RL Service Manual.
2.
Install the new drive plate. Refer to page 7-7.
3.
Reinstall the transmission. Refer to page 14-188.
