Radio/Stereo Noise Filter: Testing and Inspection
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, precautions, and procedures in the Supplemental Restraint System
before performing repairs or service.
If the radio remote switch is inoperative, perform the following.
1. Remove the radio remote switch from the steering wheel by removing the two screws, and disconnect the 2P connector.
2. Measure resistance between the No. 1 and No.2 terminals in each switch position according to the table.
3. If the switch is OK, check for continuity between the No. 1 terminal (BLK) wire of radio remote switch and body ground

If there is continuity, go to step 4.

If there is no continuity, repair open the BLK wire between the No. 1 terminal of the remote switch and steering wheel ground.
4. Disconnect the audio unit 20P connector.
5. Check for continuity between the No. 2 terminal (BLK) wire of the radio remote switch and the No.12 terminal (WHT/BLU) wire of the audio unit
20P connector.

If there is continuity, go to step 6.

If there is no continuity, repair open in the wire between the remote switch and the audio unit.
6. Check for continuity between the No. 2 terminal (BLK) wire of the radio remote switch and body ground.

If there is continuity, repair short to ground in the BLK wire between the No. 2 terminal of the remote switch and body ground.

If there is no continuity, replace the audio unit.
