If all three holes are in alignment, install the mounting bolts and torque them to 26 N-m (20 lb-ft). Then continue to step 13.

If you have to push the cover forward or backward to bring the holes into alignment, the shift cable may be out of adjustment. Install the
mounting bolts and torque them to 26 N-m (20 lb-ft). Then continue to step 13.

Inspection of shift cable adjustment and ignition key removal: Lower the vehicle. Drive the vehicle to warm it up, then check the operation of the
console shift lever by shifting from Park to Drive to Park several times. Every time you place the shift lever in Park, verify that the ignition switch
can easily be turned to LOCK and the key removed. If it is difficult to remove the key from the ignition switch, adjust the shift cable. Refer to the
service manual.

Center-punch a completion mark above the first character (1) of the engine compartment VIN.
