Inspection / Repair Procedure

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.

Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

2.

Turn the front wheels to the right.

3.

Locate the casting date circle on the transmission's end cover.

If the casting date is between 10/19 and 11/18, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

If the casting date is before 10/19 or after 11/18, no repair is needed. Lower the vehicle and center-punch the engine compartment VIN (see
step 14 of REPAIR PROCEDURE).

NOTE:  Only a casting MONTH of 10 or 11 is affected. If you find any other figure for MONTH, the vehicle is not affected.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Shift the transmission into Park. [NEW]

2.

Remove the shift cable assembly from the transmission. Do not bend the shift cable.

3.

Clean the area around the shift control shaft with brake cleaner.
