Timing Belt Installation Sequence

3. Install the timing belt tightly in the sequence shown.

1. Timing belt drive pulley
2. Adjusting pulley
3. Rear camshaft pulley
4. Water pump pulley
5. Front camshaft pulley
6. Idler pulley

NOTE: 
-

If the auto-tensioner has extended and the timing belt cannot be installed, remove and compress the auto-tensioner.

Take care not to damage the timing belt when installing it.

Make sure the timing belt drive pulley and camshaft pulleys are at TDC.

4. Tighten the idler pulley bolt.
5. Remove the battery clamp bolt.
6. Install the lower cover and upper covers.
7. Install the crankshaft pulley, then tighten the pulley bolt.
8. Rotate the crankshaft pulley about five or six turns clockwise so the timing belt positions on the pulleys.
