Disconnecting/Connecting Connectors
Disconnecting System Connectors
Before removing a front airbag, side airbag or other SRS related devices (the SRS unit, the cable reel, the side impact sensors and the seat belt tensioner
connector), disconnecting connectors from related devices, or removing the dashboard or the steering column, disconnect the airbag connectors or the
side airbag connectors to prevent accidental deployment.
Turn the ignition switch OFF, disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning the following procedures.

Before disconnecting the SRS main harness 18P connector (A) from the SRS unit, disconnect the driver's airbag 2P connector (C), the front
passenger's airbag 4P connector (D), the driver's seat belt tensioner 2P connector (F), and the front passenger's seat belt tensioner 2P connector
(H).

Before disconnecting the SRS main harness 14P connector (I) from the SRS unit, disconnect both side airbag 2P connectors (J, K).

Before disconnecting the cable reel 2P ('01-02 models) or 4P ('03 model) connectors (B), disconnect the driver's airbag 2P ('01-02 models) or 4P
('03 model) connectors (C).

Before disconnecting the SRS main harness 4P connector (E), disconnect the driver's seat belt tensioner 2P connector (F) and driver's side airbag
2P connector (J).

Before disconnecting the SRS main harness 4P connector (G), disconnect the front passenger's seat belt tensioner 2P connector (H) and front
passenger's side airbag 2P connector (K).
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait at least 3 minutes.

2. Remove the access panel from the steering wheel, then disconnect the driver's airbag 2P connector (A) from the cable reel.
