Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair

1.
Unstake spindle nut, then loosen spindle nut.
2.
Loosen wheel lug nuts.
3.
Raise and support front of vehicle.
4.
Remove front wheels and spindle nut, Fig. 16.
5.
Remove caliper attaching bolts, then using suitable wire hang aside.
6.
Remove brake disc attaching screws.
7.
Install two 8 x 1.0 mm bolts to brake disc, turn each bolt two turns at a time until brake disc is removed.
8.
Remove tie rod end cotter pin, then castle nut.
9.
Using ball joint tool No. 07941-6920003 or equivalent, separate tie rod ball joint from steering knuckle.
10.
Remove lower ball joint cotter pin, the loosen joint nut half the length of the joint threads.
11.
Remove knuckle protector.
12.
Remove upper ball joint cotter pin, then remove ball joint nut.
13.
Using ball joint tool No. 07941-6920003 or equivalent, separate upper ball joint and knuckle.
14.
Slide knuckle and hub from driveshaft.
15.
Remove splash guard from knuckle.
16.
Using suitable press, separate hub from knuckle.
17.
Remove snap ring and knuckle ring.
18.
Press wheel bearing from knuckle.
19.
Using suitable bearing puller, remove outboard bearing inner race from hub.
20.
Reverse procedure to install.
