Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair

1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming

procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.

2. Perform steps 1-12 under Cylinder Head Assembly before performing the following steps.See: Service and Repair
3. Place a rubber band around each rocker arm set to prevent arms from separating, then remove intake and exhaust rocker shaft orifices, VTEC

solenoid valve and sealing bolts.

4. Thread 12mm bolts into rocker arm shafts, then remove each rocker arm set while gently pulling out each shaft. Note positions for installation

reference.

5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Loosen valve adjusting locknuts and back off adjusting screws before rocker arm installation.
b. Install new O-rings with rocker shaft orifices.
c. If holes in rocker arm shaft and cylinder head do not align, rotate shaft using a 12mm bolt.

6. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming

procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
