Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

WARNING:  Do not smoke while working on the fuel system. Keep open flame away from your work area. Make sure the engine is OFF
before relieving the fuel pressure.

1.

Place a shop towel under the Fuel Pressure Regulator.

2.

Relieve the fuel pressure.

3.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

4.

Remove the fuel tank filler cap.

5.

Use a box end wrench on the 6mm service bolt at the top of the fuel filter, while holding the special banjo bolt with another wrench.

Place a rag or shop towel over the 6mm service bolt and SLOWLY loosen the 6mm service bolt one complete turn.

7.

Disconnect the vacuum hose and fuel return line from Fuel Pressure Regulator.

Remove the two 6mm mounting bolts.

9.

Remove the Fuel Pressure Regulator from fuel rail.

10.

Replace the O-ring. Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring and place it in its proper position, taking care not to damage the O-ring.

11.

Install the two 6mm Fuel Pressure Regulator mounting bolts and torque them to: 12 Nm (9 ft lb)

12.

Reinstall the fuel return line and vacuum hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator.

13.

Start engine and check for leaks.
