1997 Integra - ALL except Type R

MIL Is On With Misfire DTC

SYMPTOM

The MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) is on with one or more misfire DTCs (P0301, P0302, P0303, or P0304) stored in the ECM, and the customer
does not have any driveability complaints.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The ECM is detecting a false misfire during cold starts.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Review the DTC Freeze Data, and if the Freeze Data matches the conditions outlined under INSPECTION, replace the ECM.

Engine Control Module; RS, LS and GS with A/T:

P/N 37820-P75-336RM

Engine Control Module; RS, LS, and GS with M/T:

P/N 37820-P75-335RM 

Engine Control Module; GS-R:

P/N 37820-P72-335RM

INSPECTION

1.

Use the PGM Tester to retrieve the DTC(s).

2.

Review the Engine RPM and VSS values of the Freeze Data.

Is the Engine RPM above 1,100, and the VSS zero?

YES - Go to step 3.

NO - Disregard this Service Bulletin, and follow normal troubleshooting procedures.

3.

Review the ECT and IAT values.

Are the ECT and IAT values within 0.5 V of each other?

YES - Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE. 

NO - Disregard this Service Bulletin, and follow normal troubleshooting procedures.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Record the customer's radio station presets. If it is an anti-theft radio, make sure you have the anti-theft code.

2.

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal.

3.

Remove the right kick panel to expose the ECM.

4.

Remove the current ECM, and replace it with the appropriate ECM listed under PARTS INFORMATION.

5.

Reinstall the right kick panel.
