Key Cylinder Lamp: Description and Operation
LS and GS Models

Battery voltage is applied to the entry light control circuit at all times through fuse 56 and, with the ignition switch in ON (II) or START (III). through
fuse 13. The entry light control circuit is grounded at G303. On LS and GS models, with the headlight switch in PARK or HEAD, voltage is also applied
to the circuit through fuse 49.

The entry light control circuit has inputs from all 4 doors and the driver's door outside handle switch. On LS and GS models, the circuit has inputs from
the ignition key switch and the courtesy light controller.

The entry light timer system is designed to facilitate entry and exit. The system controls the operation of the front and rear ceiling lights, ignition key
cylinder light, driver's door key cylinder light, door courtesy lights and footwell lights. See the individual lights listed below for a description of their
operation.

Ignition Key Cylinder Light, and Driver's Door Key Cylinder Light
Battery voltage through fuse 57 is applied at all times to both lights in this circuit. When the driver's door outside handle is pulled or the door is
opened, a separate ground path is provided to both lights by the entry light control circuit (see schematic). Both lights will come ON and stay ON
for several seconds after the last door is closed.

Footwell, Door Courtesy and Interior Lights
Battery voltage through fuse 57 is applied at all times to all the lights in this circuit. With any door open, the entry light timer unit will provide
separate ground paths through the WHT/BLK wires (see schematic) for the front door courtesy lights and the ceiling lights, and the lights will
come ON. The lights will go OFF immediately after the last door is closed.

The footwell and rear door courtesy lights serve two functions on LS and GS models. With any door open, or the key removed from the ignition
switch, the entry light control circuit will provide ground for the lights through the WHT/BLK wire (see schematic). The lights will come ON and
stay ON for several seconds after the last door is closed. With the headlight switch in PARK or HEAD, the entry light control circuit will again
provide ground to the lights through the WHT/BLK wire. The brightness of the lights can be adjusted by using the courtesy light controller. The
lights will go to full brightness when any door is opened. regardless of the setting on the courtesy light controller.

On LS and GS models, if any of the doors are left ajar accidentally, the entry light control circuit will shut OFF all the lights in this circuit after 30
minutes.
