Alternator: Service and Repair
On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming
procedures.
2. Remove battery and tray, then the alternator lower mounting bolt, adjusting lock bolt and adjusting rod.
3. Slip alternator drive belt off pulley, then rotate alternator 90.0 degrees toward engine and pull forward.
4. Disconnect alternator connector and disengage harness clip bracket, then remove nut and black wire from terminal on rear of alternator.
5. Lift alternator from vehicle.
6. Reverse procedure to install, do not tighten adjusting nut until proper alternator belt tension is obtained.
