3. Apply the specified air pressure to the rocker arm pistons after loosening the regulator valve on the Variable Valve Timing and Valve Lift

Electronic Control (VTEC) inspection attachment.

Specified Air Pressure:
-

250 kPa (36 psi)

-

490 kPa (71 psi)

4. Make sure that the primary and secondary rocker arms are mechanically connected by pistons and that the mid rocker arms do not move when

pushed manually.

If a mid rocker arm moves independently of the primary and secondary rocker arms, replace the rocker arms as a set.

5. Remove the tools.
6. Check the operation of the lost motion assembly by pushing on the mid rocker arm. The lost motion assembly should compress fully and operate

smoothly through its full stroke. Replace the assembly if it does not work smoothly.

After inspection, check that the Malfunction Indicator Lamp does not show an error code.
