Ignition Coil: Service and Repair
Ignition Coil and Spark Plug Removal/Installation
1. Remove the charge air cooler See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Turbocharger/Intercooler/Service and Repair.
2. Remove the ignition coil cover (A).
3. Disconnect the ignition coil connectors (B), then remove the ignition coils (C).
4. Remove the spark plugs and inspect them See: Spark Plug/Testing and Inspection.
5. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the plug threads, and screw the plugs into the cylinder head, finger-tight. Torque them to 18 Nm
(1.8 kg-m, 13 lb-ft).
6. Install the ignition coils in the reverse order of removal.
