Front Door Latch: Service and Repair
Front Door Latch Replacement
NOTE: Put on gloves to protect your hands.
1. Raise the glass fully.
2. Remove the door panel. See: Front Door Panel/Service and Repair/Front Door Panel Removal/Installation
3. Disconnect the latch actuator connector, then remove the plastic cover as needed. See: Front Door Handle/Front Door Exterior Handle/Service
and Repair
4. Remove the door pull pocket bracket. See: Front Door Panel/Service and Repair/Front Door Pull Pocket Bracket Replacement
5. Remove the center lower channel. See: Front Door Handle/Front Door Exterior Handle/Service and Repair
6. Disconnect the outer handle rod. See: Front Door Handle/Front Door Exterior Handle/Service and Repair
7. Disconnect the lock cylinder cable from the latch. See: Front Door Handle/Front Door Exterior Handle/Service and Repair
8. Remove the latch (A).
-1 Disconnect the connector (B).
Remove the screws (C, D).
-3 Detach the harness clip (E) to release the wire harness from the door.
Pass the lock cable (F) and the inner handle cable (G) through the space between the door and the wire harness, then remove the latch through the hole in
the door. Take care not to kink the cables.
9. Remove the screw, and remove the latch protector (A), then disconnect the latch cable (B) and the inner handle cable (C).
10. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

Make sure the actuator connectors are plugged in properly, and the outer handle rod and the lock cylinder cable are connected securely.

Replace the outer handle rod bushing with a new one. See: Front Door Handle/Front Door Exterior Handle/Service and Repair

Make sure the door locks and opens properly.

When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to prevent water
leaks.
