Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
A/T Input Shaft (Mainshaft) Speed Sensor Replacement

A/T Input Shaft (Mainshaft) Speed Sensor Replacement

1. Do the battery removal procedure.  See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement

2. Remove the air cleaner.  See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and

Repair

3. Remove the battery base.

4. Disconnect the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor connector, and remove the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor (A).

5. Install the new O-ring (B) on the new input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor, then install the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor.

6. Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, then connect the connector securely.

7. Install the battery base.

8. Install the air cleaner.  See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and

Repair

9. Do the battery installation procedure.  See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement
