If any fuel and emission DTCs are stored, troubleshoot them first, then recheck for other DTCs.

If VSA DTC 27-1 is stored, do not clear it; go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

If any other DTCs are stored, this service bulletin does not apply. Troubleshoot and repair any other DTCs that you found.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
NOTE:

^ Cable Reel Replacement
1. Back the vehicle into a work area that has at least 10 feet (3 meters) of level surface in front of it.
2. Extend the steering column all the way back and down. Make sure the steering wheel and the front wheels are pointed straight ahead.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then disconnect the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes.
4. Remove the driver's airbag.
5. Mark the position of the steering wheel on the shaft of the steering column, then remove the steering wheel.
NOTE:
To avoid cable reel damage, do not turn the cable reel when the steering wheel is off.
6. Remove the steering column covers.
7. Remove the cable reel from the steering column shaft.
