Wind Noise From the Center of the Dashboard
SYMPTOM
You hear a wind noise from the center of the dashboard near the windshield base when driving above 50 mph with the climate control in recirculation
mode.
PROBABLE CAUSE
There is a gap in the recirculation housing.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the recirculation housing.

must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
DIAGNOSIS
1.
Test-drive the vehicle above 50 mph.
2.
Press the recirculation button on the climate control system.
3.
Press the fresh air button. (On vehicles with the Navigation System, press the recirculation button again).

If the wind noise is still there, disregard this service bulletin, and look for other possible causes of the noise.

If the wind noise goes away, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/recycling/charging station (see page 22-75 of the 1996 - 99 3.5RL Service Manual).
