A/T - Stuck In Park After Throttle Body R&R
A/T Gets Stuck in Park Usually After Throttle Body R&R
Just R&R'd the throttle body in an A/T-e quipped '05-06 RSX and now it won't shift out of Park? You may need to teach the PCM the new relative
throttle position. Here's how you do it:
1. Connect the HDS with version 2.004.004 or later software to the 16P DLC.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check TP SENSOR (throttle position sensor) and REL TP SENSOR (relative throttle position sensor) in the
Data List. The TP SENSOR value should read 0.49 V; the RELTP SENSOR value should read 0.00%.
^ If both values read OK, then press on with normal troubleshooting.
^ If the TP SENSOR value doesn't read 0.49 V, go to step 3.
^ If the REL TP SENSOR value doesn't read 0.00%, go to step 4.
3. Take the appropriate action:
^ TP SENSOR value is greater than
0.49 V: Check the cruise control and throttle cables, adjust them if needed, and recheck the value. If the cables were OK, then replace the throttle body
and recheck the value.
^ TP SENSOR value is less than 0.49 V:
Replace the throttle body, and recheck the value.
4. Use the HDS to reset the PCM, then do the idle learn procedure. Check the REL TP SENSOR value. If the value still doesn't read 0.00%, go to step
5.
5. Do the battery cable reset procedure:
^ Remove the negative and positive battery cables. Use a jumper wire to short the two cables together, then turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait
10 minutes. This completely resets the PCM.
^ Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and remove the jumper wire. Reconnect the positive battery cable first, then reconnect the negative cable.
^ Turn off all electrical items, then start the engine, and let it idle for 10 to 15 minutes.
^ Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then restart the engine. Test-drive the vehicle, and recheck the REL TP SENSOR value. It should read 0.00%.
If it doesn't, then replace the PCM.
