SIDE AIRBAG OFF Indicator Comes On
SYMPTOM
The SIDE AIRBAG OFF indicator comes on when there are no objects on the front passenger's seat cushion; the seat-back is dry; and there are no
aftermarket seat covers, cushions, or backrest installed.
Typical customer complaints are

The indicator comes on and stays on after turning the ignition switch to ON (II). (The indicator should come on briefly, and then go off.)
^
The indicator comes on and stays on while driving.
^
The indicator blinks intermittently while driving.
^
The indicator blinks intermittently with the vehicle stationary.
PROBABLE CAUSE
A faulty OPDS unit.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
If the SIDE AIRBAG OFF indicator comes on and stays on or blinks intermittently when there are no objects on the front passenger's seat cushion; the
seat-back is thoroughly dry; and there are no aftermarket seat covers, cushions, or backrest installed, replace the OPDS unit.

DIAGNOSIS
1.
Make sure there are no objects on the front passenger's seat cushion; the seat-back is thoroughly dry; and there are no aftermarket seat covers,
cushions, or backrest installed. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
