Oil Pump: Service and Repair
1. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Remove timing belt.
3. Remove crankshaft timing pulley.
4. Remove oil pan.

5. Remove oil pump Fig. 59. Carefully remove sealing materials from both oil pump flange and cylinder block.
6. Using a screwdriver, remove oil seal, if necessary.

7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply suitable sealant to oil pump fitting face. Ensure sealant is not applied to oil ports, Fig. 60.
b. Use oil seal installer tool No. J-39202, or equivalent, to install new oil seal into oil pump assembly.
c. Apply engine oil to oil seal lip.
d. Do not force garter spring of seal out of position during oil pump installation.
e. Tighten oil pump assembly retaining bolts to specification.
8. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
