Safety Recall: SLX Rear Center Seat Belt Buckle
BACKGROUND
In certain vehicles, the rear center seat belt latch and buckle assembly are mismatched and cannot be latched together. This leaves a passenger sitting in
that position unrestrained.

1996 SLX: From VIN JAEDJ58V*T7B01670 thru VIN T7B01867
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
All owners of affected vehicles will be mailed a notification of this recall. This notice will ask the owner to either inspect the seat belt and return a
postcard, or contact the nearest Acura dealer and make arrangements to have the vehicle inspected and, if necessary, repaired. An example of the
customer letter is at the end of this service bulletin.
Approximately 163 vehicles are affected by this recall. All of them need to be inspected; only a small percentage will need to be repaired.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Inspect the rear center seat belt assembly. Replace the buckle assembly if it will not latch properly.
1.
Try to latch the rear center seat belt.

If the seat belt latches and unlatches properly, return the vehicle to the owner.

If the seat belt will not latch, continue to step 2.
2.
Order a new seat belt buckle assembly (see PARTS INFORMATION). Set an appointment with the owner to repair the vehicle after the new
assembly arrives.
3.
Install the new seat belt buckle assembly. Torque the mounting bolt to 39 N-m (29 lb-ft).
