4WD Indicator Always On
SYMPTOM
The 4WD indicator remains on when driving in 2WD mode.
PROBABLE CAUSE
One or both of the vacuum solenoid valves has open coil windings.
DIAGNOSIS
1.
Make sure the vehicle is in 2WD mode. Drive it forward at least 100 yards, then brake to a stop.
^
If the 4WD indicator is on, continue to step 2.
^
If the 4WD indicator is not on, the Shift-On-The-Fly system is working properly. Investigate other causes of the customer's complaint.
2.
Remove the skid plate from the Shift-On-The-Fly system.
3.
Disconnect the electrical connectors from the vacuum solenoid valves.
4.
Measure the resistance across the terminals on each vacuum solenoid valve.
^
If the measured resistance of either valve is greater than 50 ohms, continue to CORRECTIVE ACTION.
