Steering Wheel: Service and Repair
With Supplemental Restraint System
On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.

2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove access panel from steering wheel lower cover.
4. Disconnect electrical connector from air bag and cable reel.
5. Remove T30 mounting bolts, then the air bag assembly.
6. Disconnect horn and cruise control electrical connectors.
7. Remove steering wheel retaining bolt.
8. Loosely install steering wheel bolt to column shaft , then using suitable puller remove steering wheel.
9. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Torque steering wheel nut to 28 ft. lbs.
b. Ensure new T30 torx bolts are used when installing air bag assembly.
10. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming
procedures.
11. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
