Steering Column Lock: Testing and Inspection
Key Interlock Solenoid Test
NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Locations, precautions
and procedures See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair before doing repairs or servicing.
1. Remove the steering column cover See: Steering Column Cover/Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the steering lock assembly connector.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY (I).
4. Connect power to steering lock assembly connector terminal No. 4, and ground to steering lock assembly connector terminal No. 3. Check that the
ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0). Disconnect power, and check that the key can be turned to the LOCK (0) position and removed
from the cylinder.
5. If the key interlock solenoid works improperly, replace the steering lock assembly See: Service and Repair.
