Water Pump: Service and Repair
Water Passage Replacement
Water Passage Replacement
1. Drain the engine coolant See: Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair.
2. Do the battery removal procedure See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement.
3. Remove the intake manifold See: Intake Manifold/Service and Repair/Intake Manifold Removal/Installation.
4. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe See: Powertrain Management/Emission Control Systems/Exhaust Gas Recirculation/EGR
Tube/Service and Repair.
5. Disconnect the EGR valve connector, the ECT sensor 1 connector, the upper radiator hose, the lower radiator hose, the heater hoses, and the water
bypass hoses from the water passage.
6. Remove the water passage and related parts.
7. Install the water passage in the reverse order of removal.
8. Install the EGR pipe See: Powertrain Management/Emission Control Systems/Exhaust Gas Recirculation/EGR Tube/Service and Repair.
9. Install the intake manifold See: Intake Manifold/Service and Repair/Intake Manifold Removal/Installation.
10. Do the battery installation procedure See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement.
11. Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed the air from the cooling system See: Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair.
12. Clean up any spilled engine coolant.
