Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

Ignition Coil and Spark Plug Removal/Installation

Front

1. Remove the engine cover  See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Engine Removal.

2. Disconnect the ignition coil connectors (A), then remove the front ignition coils (B).

3. Remove the spark plugs and inspect them  See: Spark Plug/Testing and Inspection.

4. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the plug threads, and screw the plugs into the cylinder head, finger tight. Torque them to 22 Nm

(2.2 kg-m, 16 lb-ft).

5. Install the front ignition coils in the reverse order of removal.

Rear

1. Remove the engine cover  See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Engine Removal.

2. Disconnect the ignition coil connectors (A), then remove the rear ignition coils (B).

3. Remove the spark plugs and inspect them  See: Spark Plug/Testing and Inspection.
