Line Pressure Solenoid Valve A Test
Line Pressure Solenoid Valve A Test
1. Connect the HDS to the DLC (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode. Make sure the HDS communicates with the PCM.
If it does not, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and
Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/DLC Circuit Troubleshooting.
3. Select Line Pressure Solenoid Valve A in the Miscellaneous Test Menu on the HDS.
4. Check that line pressure solenoid valve A operate with the HDS. A clicking sound should be heard.

If a clicking sound is heard, the valve is OK.
The test is complete, disconnect the HDS.

If no clicking sound is heard, go to step 5 and test the solenoid valve.
5. Do the battery removal procedure See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement.
6. Remove the air cleaner See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and
Repair.
7. Remove the intake air duct See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Automatic Transmission Removal.
8. Remove the battery heat shield See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Automatic Transmission Removal.
9. Remove the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Automatic Transmission Removal.
10. Remove the battery base See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Automatic Transmission Removal.
11. Remove the ATF dipstick and the starter See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Automatic Transmission Removal.
12. Remove the secondary valve body See: Service and Repair/Overhaul/Valve Body/Secondary Valve Body Replacement.
13. Measure the resistance of line pressure solenoid valve A between connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

If the resistance is out of the standard, replace the secondary valve body, then go to step 15.

If the resistance is within the standard, go to step 14 and check the solenoid valve for a clicking sound.
