Oil Pressure Gauge: Testing and Inspection

Additional gauges, checking 

If the specified values are not obtained during the following tests,
-

check for breaks in the wiring using the current flow diagram OR check voltage stabilizer

If wiring and voltage stabilizer are OK,
-

replace the specific gauge being tested

 
 
Voltmeter, checking 

-

switch ignition ON
-

approximately battery voltage

 
 
Oil pressure gauge, checking 

-

remove connector G from oil pressure sender in left hand side of engine compartment

-

attach VW 1301 between connector and ground

-

switch ignition ON

-

adjust VW 1301 to the following:

dial setting 

gauge reads

350 

5 bar (72.5 psi)

150 

2 bar (29.0 psi)

10 

0 bar (0.0 psi)

 
 
Oil temperature gauge, checking 

-

remove connector from oil temperature sender (on oil pump)

-

attach VW 1301 between connector and ground

-

switch ignition ON
