Fuel System

Symptom:

Ceramic body of catalytic converter may melt at exhaust inlet side.

Cause:

^

engine oil level above max mark on dipstick

^

ignition system faults:

-

fouled spark plugs

-

spark plug connector loose

-

distributor cap broken or corroded

-

distributor rotor burnt or malfunctioning

-

damaged or misaligned spark plug wires

Production Change:

No changes in production

Service Solution:

^

check engine oil and lower level to max mark if necessary

^

check ignition systems for causes listed above and repair as necessary
