Recall - Differential Oil Change, A/T 087 & 089

Differential Oil Change
Automatic 3-Speed Transmission 087 and 089

A.

Replace Differential Oil
1.

Place vehicle on hoist.

2.

Open hood.

3.

Lift vehicle.

4.

Clean area around differential filler plug.

5.

Remove filler plug slowly (see arrow in illustration).

CAUTION

Hypoid oil may be under pressure; wear goggles and place shop rag over plug before removal.

6.

Use special suction pump, part number KL 2234, to remove oil from final drive.  Wiggle suction pump hose down to bottom of differential
cavity to collect all oil.

7.

Use high performance gear oil, 1 liter, part number G 052 145 A2, to refill differential until a small amount of oil starts draining from filling
hole. Use special suction pump also for replenishing when checking oil level during 15,000 mile service.

8.

Reinstall filler plug and tighten to 25 Nm.

9.

Lower vehicle.

Clean upper radiator shroud area.  Peel off label backing and affix label to clean surface.
