Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Description and Operation
CIS-Turbo ECU
A manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor is used to enable the ECU to calculate the engine load and boost pressure. The MAP sensor is
incorporated into the ECU and a vacuum hose connected between the intake manifold and the ECU transmits vacuum (or boost pressure) to the sensor.
The signal from this sensor influences the air/fuel mixture, ignition timing, and is used to regulate turbocharger boost pressure and operate the boost
pressure gauge on the dashboard.
