Throttle Body: Description and Operation
The throttle body regulates the amount of air allowed into the engine depending on the drivers demand for power. The farther the throttle is opened the
more air and fuel are burned in each cylinder cycle, and the more torque and horsepower is produced. Switches on the throttle body (wide open throttle
switch and idle switch) signal the throttle position to the ECU. Some engines also have a potentiometer (throttle sensor) in addition to the switches, to
continuously relate the throttle position to the control unit.
