System Function Check W/ VAG 1710

ABS, CHECKING FUNCTION WITH VAG 1710

Note

From 1993 m.y. the ABS switch (E 83) is deleted on all models.

drive vehicle onto hoist platform and raise far enough until all wheels can be turned freely

Note

^

transmission in neutral (N)

^

differential lock not engaged on All Wheel Drive (AWD) models

^

parking brake not applied

^

switch off ignition

^

remove plug connection to ABS Control Module (J 104)

set coding switch A at connector cable VAG 1710/1 to correct setting of vehicle being tested 

^

plug connector cable VAG 1710/1 to vehicle ABS Control Module (J 104) harness and ABS tester VAG 1710

Note

The ABS Warning Light (K 47) lights up in test steps 1 to 4 and 6 when the ignition is switched on. If the LED on the ABS tester (LED -1-) goes out
during the ABS test, test power supply to ABS Control Module (J 104)

CAUTION

DO NOT drive vehicle with testers connected

DO NOT test the brake system on a brake dynamometer
