Note
Check current draw and stall current prior to repair or replacement of window regulator motors.
Checking current draw
^
connect volvamperage tester Sun VAT 40, or VAT 60 or equivalent
^
Sun VAT 60 shown
^
connect inductive pick-up to battery ground strap
^
switch ignition ON
^
press operating switches for window regulators one after the other (open or close)
^
measure current draw during window switch operation
^
must be 6-12A (during window travel)
If NO, replace or repair window regulator motor
Note
The tester always indicates a current reading when ignition is switched on; this reading varies according to operating conditions, model type and
equipment.
Checking stall current
^
zero tester to compensate for other electrical consumers
^
after window is at top or bottom and switch depressed, current must be between 10-15A (stall current)
^
if NO, replace or repair window regulator motor
