Accumulator HVAC: Description and Operation
Purpose and Operation
The main purpose of the accumulator is to separate liquid refrigerant from the vapor and act as a storage device for the liquid refrigerant.
A desiccant bag which acts as a drying agent is located in the bottom of the accumulator to absorb small amounts of moisture which may enter the
system.
An oil bleed hole is also located in the lower portion of the accumulator to ensure that refrigerant oil is circulated to the compressor.
