Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

(Fault code 4343)

Requirement:

-

Ignition switched to OFF position

-

insert spare fuse in top of fuel pump relay

-

turn ignition ON, remove fuse after four seconds

-

re-insert fuse for four seconds, then remove
-

fault indicator light displays 4343 code

-

close full throttle switch
^

shut-off solenoid clicks ON and OFF when full throttle switch is closed

If NO

-

proceed as follows

-

disconnect carbon canister shut-off solenoid harness connector in right wheel house (arrow)

CARBON CANISTER VALVE, HARNESS CONNECTOR

-

connect LED tester US 1115 to connector terminals 1 and 2 using jumper wire

specification: US 1115 must light up (blink)

If specification IS obtained

-

replace carbon canister shut-off solenoid

If specification is NOT obtained

-

connect multimeter US 1119 between terminal 1 of connector and ground
^

specification: approximately 12 volts 

If specification is NOT obtained,

-

check wiring as follows

-

remove fuel injection control unit access cover in right passenger foot well and disconnect control unit connector
